Die südkoreanische LG hat zu einem Event am 7. August in New York mit dem Vermerk „Internationale Medienveranstaltung“ eingeladen. Somit kann man davon ausgehen, dass LG den dort Anwesenden etwas Interessantes präsentieren wird. Beim Namen LG stellte sich bislang bei der Mobil- Community recht selten ein „Haben Muss“ Gefühl ein. Trotz Erfolgen mit seiner Optimus Reihe und als Auftragsfertiger von Googles Nexus 4 leidet LG seit langem unter dem Erfolg und der großen Popularität seines Landesbruders Samsung.
Eigentlich nicht gerechtfertigt, denn LG ist zum einen mit eigener Displaytechnologie sehr erfolgreich unterwegs und lieferte zuletzt mit seinen Optimus G Modellen excellente Geräte ab. So gehen etliche Insider auch davon aus, dass der Hersteller auf dem Event ein Nachfolge Modell seines Flaggschiffes Optimus G vorstellen wird. Ein kürzlich auf @evleaks veröffentlichtes Bild könnte das neue Modell zeigen. Wie bei fast allen Mitbewerbern fällt der extrem schmale Rand auf, der den Bildschirm umschließt. Dies lässt auf eine Displaygröße zwischen 5-6 Zoll in Full-HD (1920 x 1080 Pixel) Technologie schliessen.
Interessant ist auch, dass Qualcomm vor ein paar Tagen seine Partnerschaft mit LG dahingehend bestätigt hat, dass die zukünftigen Optimus G Modelle mit der derzeit schnellsten Snapdragon 800 CPU ausgestattet werden. Die fortgesetzte Partnerschaft kommt für die Beobachter nicht ganz unerwartet, denn LG`s Ur-Optimus G war eines der ersten Geräte, das mit Qualcomms Snapdragon S4 Pro bestückt worden ist. So wirbt der Chiphersteller auch damit, dass der Snapdragon 800 mindestens 75 Prozent Leistungszuwachs gegenüber dem S4 Pro bietet. Für Technikfreaks recht interessant ist der Aufbau des neuen Chips, der neben der eigentlichen Krait 400 CPU eine Adreno 330 GPU (Grafikeinheit), LTE Advanced sowie Ultra HD Video Aufnahme und Playback bietet. So soll Ultra HD Video für eine bis zu 4x dichtere Videoauflösung sorgen als es mit dem heutigen Full-HD (1080p) möglich ist. Zudem sollen mit der neuen Adreno 330 GPU Displayauflösungen von bis zu 2560 x 2048 Pixeln und Miracast mit 1080p möglich sein.
